Proscar (Finasteride) is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia in men. Proscar was originally used to treat enlarged prostate glands (benign prostatic hyperplasia). However in lower dose it is now also used to treat inherited hair loss in men (androgenetic alopecia) the most common cause of hair loss.
